Connect your CRM to an AI assistant
Let Claude or ChatGPT work with your Compass CRM, safely. Reading is on by default; making changes and sending stay off until you arm them.
You can connect Compass to an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, so you can ask it about your leads, quotes, and calendar in plain language, and (if you choose) have it make changes or send emails for you. It connects over a standard called MCP (Model Context Protocol).
This is a paid-plan feature. You will find it under Settings, Connections, Connect to AI.
How to connect
- Open Settings, Connect to AI and copy the connection address.
- In Claude or ChatGPT, add a custom connector and paste that address.
- A Compass window opens. Sign in (and pass 2-step verification if you use it).
- Review what the assistant is asking for, then choose Allow.
What it can do, and what stays off
Access comes in three tiers. You control them from the same page, and you can change them at any time.
- Readturns on automatically once connected. The assistant can view your leads and enquiries, clients, quotes and invoices, contracts, and calendar. It only ever sees what you could see in the app, nothing from anyone else’s account.
- Allow changes lets the assistant create and update leads, add notes, and similar. It is off until you turn it on.
- Allow sending to clients lets the assistant email a client. It is a separate switch, off by default, because it reaches real inboxes.
Before you can turn on either of the last two, you accept a short disclaimer: an AI can make mistakes, and you are responsible for what it does with this access. We recommend leaving sending off until you have seen how the assistant behaves with reading and changes.
The safety rails
- It acts as you.Everything the assistant does runs through your own permissions, so it can never reach another business’s data.
- Emails only go to saved addresses.When the assistant sends a client email, it goes to the address already on that client’s record. The AI cannot type in a different recipient.
- Everything is logged. Every change and send is recorded so you can see exactly what the assistant did.
- You can cut it off instantly. The Connected apps list shows every AI app connected to your workspace. Disconnect any one and its access stops immediately.
Turning it off
Flip the switches off to stop changes or sending while keeping the connection. To remove an assistant entirely, choose Disconnect next to it under Connected apps.
