First steps after signing up
A 5-minute path from a fresh account to a usable workspace.
When you sign up, Compass walks you through a four-step setup wizard. None of it is permanent, you can come back and edit everything from Settings → Workspace.
1. Pick your industry
This sets the language Compass uses across the app. A photographer sees "shoot" where a copywriter sees "project". The dashboard widgets and Business Costs presets adapt to match.
2. Name your business
Two fields: your workspace name (mostly internal, visible at the top right) and an optional brand name (used on lead-form templates and shared links).
3. Tweak your vocabulary
Compass starts with sensible defaults, "lead", "client", "wedding" / "shoot" / "project" depending on your industry. Override anything that doesn't fit how you actually talk.
4. Set up your stages
The columns of your kanban. The headings are yours to rename; the underlying status (in grey) drives analytics so don't worry about getting the names "right", they're labels for you, not for the data.
