Notification preferences
Choose what Compass tells you about and how, with sensible defaults already on.
Compass keeps you in the loop on the things that matter, new enquiries, bookings, payments, contracts, and upcoming tasks. You can fine-tune exactly what you hear about and how, in Settings, Notifications.
Three channels, one grid
Every event has three channels you can toggle independently:
- In-app shows a notification in Compass itself. Great for things you will catch next time you open the app.
- Email sends a short email to the address on your account. Useful for anything you want to know about even when you are not looking at Compass, like a new enquiry or a payment landing.
- Desktop shows an OS-level banner on your computer, even when Compass is not open. This is per-browser and strictly opt-in: enable it using the card at the top of the Notifications page, then choose which events banner using the grid.
Enabling desktop notifications
At the top of Settings, Notifications you will find a card to enable desktop notifications for the browser you are on. Your browser will ask for permission once. After that, you control which events show a banner using the Desktop column in the grid below. Desktop notifications default to off for every event, so enabling the browser switch does not start any banners until you turn on the specific events you want.
Desktop notifications are per-browser. If you use Compass in more than one browser, enable it in each one separately. To turn it off, use the Turn off on this browser link on the same card.
Sensible defaults, already on
When you sign up, Compass turns on the notifications most people find genuinely useful and leaves quieter ones off. For example, new enquiries and payments get both in-app and email by default; routine task reminders stay in-app only. You can turn any channel on or off whenever you like, and changes save automatically with no button to press.
Resetting to defaults
If you want to start fresh, the Reset to defaults button at the bottom of the page restores everything to the original settings in one click.
SMS (coming soon)
SMS notifications are on the way. They will appear in the same grid when ready, so you will not need to look anywhere new to set them up.
